"The Ultimate Driving Machine"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The water pump was bad when I bought the car, and had to be replaced.

The thermostat was bad and had to be replaced. Its absence caused the car to overheat quickly.

The fuses are all messed up. I cannot drive at night due to a continually blown fuse which does not allow me to turn on any of my instrument cluster or passenger side tail lights.

The driver side seat is badly worn and should be replaced.

The sunroof doesn't work, not because of the motor, but rather there is something wrong with the gears and/or rails.

The information center display displays characters which I've never seen before. When the weather is mild, you can somewhat read it, but when its above 80 degrees, forget it!

General comments?

The ride is absolutely excellent, and I love the interior.

Unfortunately, this car requires persistent keep up and if you are buying a used car make sure the previous owner had regular service or you will become very familiar with the folks at your local BMW center.

Still, nothing beats the amazing stares you get when you pass people by!

Hello!

I believe your car is seriously messed up. BMW E36 is quite reliable. Thanks.

Fuses blowing sounds like an uncorrected electrical fault

Get it fixed before more problems occur!

Did any previous owners install any aftermarket stereo systems or other things of that nature? If so, they might have screwed up some of the wiring in the car. These cars are pretty easy to diagnose and work on, so it should not be hard to find out what's wrong.
