1. Passenger side fog light lens got cracked.
2. passenger side wind shield wash jet clogged.
3. front rotors/brake pads replacement
4. digital climate control intermittently on and off
5. brake light intermittently fail and then fine by itself
6. sagging glove box cover.
This is a fun fun car - no wonder the name "Ultimate Driving Machine". Driving it you are actually looking forward to twisted roads. The feel of the 328i is solid even on stock suspension. Everything is tight and precise.
And there is a huge after-market for you if you ever wanna mod it. It's more of a toy to me than a tool. It keeps a smile on my face every time I drive it. It is worth every single buck I have invested in it.
But the bad thing is:
1. no tilt wheel
2. water pump issue
3. expensive maintenance
etc.
It's really interesting how the same problems occur with a given car. Reading the comments on several different cars I own, the same problems recur.
On the 328i, I have had the cracked fog light / failed fuel gauge / noisy window seal / intermittent brake failure warning. Obviously the fog light is always going to be a problem. I think the wire soldered to the fuel guage float falls off. The window seals are often noisy because somebody broke in and they can never fit the seals as at the factory. The intermittent brake warning happens on all BMW's in my experience, and they offer to fix it with a hugely expensive control module which I declined. It always give you a start though when it flashes up on the computer with the helpful message 'Consult owners manual'.
Anyway, once you've had one and floored it in second and third on a smooth A road you'll never forget the experience. You've run out of tarmac long before you can hit forth in the UK, but you're going awfully fast awfully quickly. The amazing thing is that you get 35 mpg despite the awesome performance, compared with my Golf 2l GTi which does about 20.
A bit of a cult car really, not like any other driving experience. I think it's either your car or not - no middle ground.
My only other problems have been with reluctant door locks which sometimes go down and sometimes not. Again a problem not unique to the 328. Anyway a great car that I'll always look back on fondly.
I had the same problem with my tail lights the warning light..on my 328is
one day I took them out just to wash the part between them and the body. Guess what, the light never came on since than.
