Great car to look at.
Great car to drive.
Horrible car to fix.
Funny how people complain about cost of keeping a European car up. Of course you're going to pay a lot if you take it in somewhere. $900 for a water pump? A new water pump cost around $100, and other than a couple o-rings and coolant bleeding procedure, it is really no different than putting one in an old Ford.
You realise you got ripped off right?
I agree with them too, a WONDERFUL place that will help you with stuff like this are forums, bimmerforums com comes to mind. There are millions of life-saving threads on places like this that help you diagnose and most of the time DIY fixes are available. It's helped me with tons of little issues I've had with my 540. I NEVER go to the dealer, by far the most expensive place and a sure way to get ripped off. Most of the time my issues have been linked to sensors which are usually inexpensive (O2 sensors, air flow sensor, camshaft position sensor ets) and easy to replace.
I LOVE my BMW.
