1992 BMW 5 Series SE from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Comfort and style costs, can you Really afford it?"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Water-pump, radiator, and thermostat re replaced every 30,000 miles at £250 a time. I live with very hard water apparently!!

New shock-absorbers, coil springs and brake disc's every 25,000 miles. cost £800 a time.

General comments?

Having gone from a small 3-series 323i BMW 2-door saloon to a 5-series automatic BMW tourer it took a while to adjust to the loss of power.

I spend £1000's on replacing parts that wear out, but I have the car screaming and crying non-stop.

If ever you wanted a very comfy shed on wheels with a surge of extras and some power then you'll love this car.

I still get 45 miles-Per-Gallon at over 100,000 miles on my engine now so need I say more?

Re 525 ix tourer, just got one so far, delighted big change from Ssangyong musso diesel workhorse for towing.

Would appreciate any comment on towing with the bmw. will be pulling big twin. abbey 520.

About the 45mgp. I don't think so, a diesel maybe, but not the petrol injection one. in the book it doesn't give anything like this! with all my experience, 30 mpg is not quite attainable at the moment.

No real nasties just seems a very civilised vehicle.

Solid dependable, but a little bit of wolf under the bonnet if peddaled, very suprising lift for such a heavy estate.

Not sure if emails allowed, but would appreciate any towing comments to mike@complementary-services.co.uk.
