1991 BMW 5 Series review from UK and Ireland
"A great car, but next time maybe a bigger engine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
These cars have a weakness in the radiators, the plastic bottle part of the rad tend to fail.
This led to to a new rad, water pump and viscose bearing.
The back diff "weeps"
Upholstery wore badly compared to cars of a comparable age.
General comments?
Overall I am very pleased with this car.
Other than the above mentioned problems
it has proven to be a very reliable comfortable car that shows its true merits on longer journeys.
I use this car every day on a round trip of 70 miles to work and also on week ends
the 6 cylinder engine sounds great, but fuel economy averages low 30's even with my conservative motorway driving and 15" 205 tyres.
