This model was recalled for programming error.
Since that problem was repaired, the navigation
system street address would come up in french.
The car itself is beautiful & handles well.
The cub holders are already starting to wear.
The big problem was getting the navigation system working properly. After three trips to the dealer, I complained on the survey, the manager of the service department told me he wouldn't help me with the car anymore, because of my complaint.
Very poor customer service!
"Very poor customer service!"
I second that. BMW is in very deep trouble with their customer service. I have 2 Mercedes and a BMW and I have to take my BMW to the Mercedes dealership for services...
I am starting to seriously wonder if MB is any better.
Recently they twice to tried to overcharge me for jobs. One being the install of a muffler (1/2 hr job) and estimating for a full exhaust install at 2 1/2 hours. When I pointed out the fact that it was only for a muffler install, I was told rather rudely that if I did not like it, I could leave.
I didn't like it and I left. My neighborhood mechanic installed the muffler for $40.
Secondly, they (ahem) misdiagnosed a charging system problem, that should be well known to them. The fix is easy and should be no-cost, yet they attempted to take me for $1000.00 plus. My neighborhood mechanic checked the car and diagnosed correctly for $44. I found the 'fix' earlier on the MB forum.
The lack of consistency is the most annoying trait of these service departments. Inconsistent pricing, inflexible attitudes and rude indiscreet behavior does not impress me.
Now when I think of both the service mgr. and the tech who tried to rip me off, I wish to bang their skulls together and remind them who pays the rent and the worth of a good name.
My experiences show me it is best to be an informed consumer and learn as much as possible about these sometimes over-engineered cars to prevent being ripped off and frustrated. Also, to walk away if needed and support honest local business folk.
Heck, in this information age it is quite easy to learn about many new and valuable things from folks sharing common and unique experiences. All in the comfort of our homes.
CarSurvey dot org being a prime example.
