2009 BMW 6 Series 635d 3.0 litre turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Luxury, power and presence

Faults:

Parking sensor failed.

General Comments:

This car is a genuine luxo-barge. Once remapped to 355 bhp and 495 ft/lbs torque, it delivers explosive power through the enormous 295/35/19 rear tyres. Trimmed beautifully and boasting every toy, these can be picked up very reasonably in the UK. Treat it carefully and look after it with good quality lubricants and you'll have no issues at all... I drive 6 hours a day, getting up at 5am to drive 135 miles to work, then back home at the end of the day, and what a car to do it in!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The 635d is still going strong with 156000 miles and not a squeak or creak or fault... it's crazy how good this car is!

Glad it lasted, I'd have loved one of these when new. But a 20 year old BMW is a money pit now. Maybe as a second car to play with I'd consider one.

I’d say that, given how cars are built these days and their poor—or nonexistent—reliability, a 2009 BMW could easily serve as a daily driver rather than just a secondary vehicle.

And I think that’s going to be the norm in the future: cars designed to last five years at most before being thrown on the scrap heap.

Bring on the "older" models from the mid-2000s.
