1998 BMW Z3 Roadster review from UK and Ireland
"Good BMW sports car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cigarette lighter packed up.
General comments?
In general, a very good car. The BMW 2.8 litre straight 6 is a reliable torquey engine which delivers on command.
Practicality is limited (but hey, it is a 2 seater sports car).
Service from my local BMW dealer was exemplary, prompt, courteous, I couldn't fault them.
All gadgetery present although the estimated miles left on your current tank of petrol was wildly inaccurate! Pretty good MPG for a 2.8 straight 6 though.
Traction/anti-skid control was pretty good but detracted from a true driving experience. You could switch it off, but after getting used to it, it got a bit scarey switching it off!
Don't get the 1.9 if you want performance, it doesn't deliver.
