General comments?
I inherited this car from my grandpa after he went to the nursing home. When he still drove it, he maintained it in the most anal retentive way possible. Most of the above problems are a result of storage for 11 years.
For the reliability its given me over the past 3 years and 43,000 miles, you can't beat this car. Gas mileage is a real headache sometimes (12-17 MPG), but this is a car with a spirit that won't die. Although its nearly twice my age, the styling has really grown on me. Parts are surprisingly cheap if you can find good ones at a salvage yard.
Room and comfort are something else. You can actually FIT 6 large adults in this car, with room to spare. And the trunk could probably swallow a GEO Metro whole. It's a great car for road trips.
The engine has power, power, and more power. The first time I power-braked it I burnt up my tires for nearly 3 blocks. I surprise and embarass many modern Honda, Toyota, Camaro, and Mustang drivers. This car has no problem going 120 MPH, and wastes no time getting there. It is also quite stable at high speeds, as long as you don't pull any stupid manuvers with it.
I own a much smaller Toyota Corolla to save money on gas, but I wouldn't part with my old Buick for anything.
