1976 Buick Century Landau review from North America
"The safest car on the road"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I replaced the battery the week I got it. It was over ten years old, however.
I had to replace the alternator belt almost immediately after the battery was replaced. It snapped.
Power brakes went out after 95,000 miles.
Otherwise, nothing has been done other than two new tires in the front.
General comments?
This thing is a rock. I've never felt safer in any car. I was in an accident in which I ended up rear ending someone at 35 miles an hour and all it did was shove the bumper in an inch or so and break the left headlight.
It is incredibly reliable considering the age. The electrical problems mentioned can be expected from a car this old.
The gas mileage is horrid! I get 10 miles per gallon in the winter and 14 in warmer weather.
The most comfortable ride I've ever had. It rides like a true Buick.
