I had to have the electric cooling fan replaced. I also had to have the crank position sensor replaced and a couple of days ago I had to have my harmonic balancer replaced. My front struts were replaced at 116,000km when my parents had the car. The windshield washer fluid pump had to be replaced a few months ago. The alternator had to be replaced a little over a year ago. The rad seals had to be replaced a few months ago. (car still has its original aluminum core rad) About a little over a year ago my cousin and I replaced the front passenger door pins. For a little bit less than a year I've known that I have to have my coolant intake repaired, (it has an extremely slow leak) every few months I add a very fractional amount of coolant to the overflow jar. To have the intake repaired it costs about $330.00 canadian, parts and labour at a g.m. dealer. I'm losing about 2 eighths of a litre of oil between 5000 km oil changes. I'm guessing my oil intake may have to be repaired. My battery was replaced a couple of months ago. the original battery that came with the car had been replaced a long time ago. so my new a/c delco battery replaced the old uap/napa battery that was in the car.
This is a great car. It is solid and heavy. The car has a lot of power.I will be doing some minor boywork to it this summer. The windshield pillars are rusting at the bottom along the side of the windshield rubber seal and the drivers side piller has some rusting about 3/4 of the way up the piller. Rust is just starting around the indentation for the gas cap lid . The bottoms of the four doors have some minor rust that is starting to look a bit bad.The window frames of the back doors are just starting to rust. passenger front door has a little rust that has started under the door molding and worked its way down a little below the molding. The rear drivers side door has a small rust/paint bubble under the window chrome molding. (this bubble is at the extreme right of the rear passenger window molding. There are a couple other very minor rust spots that will have to be worked on as well. There is a minor rust spot on both quarter panels where the plastic bumper cover meets the quarter panels.
I bought a used, low mileage '92 Century in 1998 from a private party hoping for low cost operation and reliability and that's what I got. I've the the 6 cylinder.
It only has 80,000 on it now, but it ran great on my 6/03 2000 mile trip from Washington DC to New England. Mostly turnpike driving, but I did drive it in the Bronx, NY on that trip.
The driver's side power door lock quit locking a few years ago so I just use the manual lock. The power unlock still works on the driver's side so I won't bother to get this fixed.
Other than that no complaints. It has a few nice comfort touches like the power seat.
