1977 Buick Electra 225 review from North America
"The best money can buy.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The fuel pump started making noise (ticking) so I changed it at 40,000.
The radiator got a hole in it somehow while sitting in my yard, so I changed it with a good used on.
I put new brake pads, calipers, rubber lines, and steel lines on for the front brakes to get them back up to par.
Replaced the exhaust the same time I changed the front brakes.
I put a new front seal on it, it started leaking, not much though just a little.
General comments?
This car was built a++, as almost all body by fisher was. but the electra was one of the best, they have some get up and go to them for how big the car is. power everything to boot. auto climate, power locks, power windows, power antenna, power seats, power trunk release, power steering, power brakes, tilt, cruse control, rear defrost, turning lights, indicator lights on the fenders and trunk, hood light, trunk light, buick sport rally wheels, loaded man...
This car rides so well you can't even feel bumps.. you can fit four people in the trunk and close it and the could all still move around, you can fit three 200 pound wide shouldered men in the back and be very comfortable with room to spare, same goes for the front.
This car is 230 inches long, that is why they called it a 225.. if you didn't know.. it has a greater gvwr then a mid 90s 4x4 chevy pick up extended cab.. it can haul more weight then most trucks.. ride in comfort and bring the 8 kegs to the party. if you can find one buy it, they are the best in my opinion, safe as you can be in a car.
The only down fall of them is the gas mileage, I get 19 highway, 8-12 city. its not too bad, but it isn't good by all means.
