1989 Buick LeSabre Custom review from North America
"Reliable, fast, cheap, economical, comfy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Crank sensor went out at 221000, 35 bucks.
Water pump at 229000, 40 bucks.
Coil pack 20 bucks, junk yard. Due to over-gapping the plugs. GM took back their .060 gap, drop them to .050 or they wear out, the old Magnavox ones anyway.
General comments?
I love this car and will probably always have it, GM's best design, parts are cheap and I have a motor and tranny in storage for that day. Family got it when I was 13 and I'm currently 20. Not bad for 500 bucks. My only complaint is the crappy coil packs.
She has never left me stranded. I recently drove it to Memphis, TN from Boise, ID and taking it to L.A. It's been everywhere.
Also it's way comfy and quick. High geared for good mpg (30ish).
My buddies call it the couch.
