1993 Buick LeSabre Limited review from North America

"The car I recommend to anyone looking for a comfort and value!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Replaced water-pump at time of purchase, then the replacement water-pump went bad, a total of 700 Canadian Dollars for 2 water pumps. Haven't had any more problems with it since.

The original factory power-steering cooler was cracked by road debris at around 173,000 km, and starting leaking (more like pouring out) steering fluid. This was replaced for 350 Canadian Dollars.

The driver's door power lock does not unlock, must be unlocked manually from inside or with key. Have not had it fixed yet.

General comments?

I'm only 22 years old and I have no qualms about being seen in what is considered by most people, an old man's car. This car is quick, comfortable and very reliable.

The big 3.8 Liter engine has it's pros and cons. The pros are it's power and durability. My parent's '92 Pontiac Trans Sport mini-van, which has the same engine (the 3.8) has almost 350,000 Kms on it and the engine still runs strong and quiet. The only con is the amount of gasoline it uses. Fuel ecomony is a relative term, I suppose. While this Buick uses more gas than say a 1993 Cavalier sedan, you also get more comfort, room and quality, so it's a trade-off. Besides, the Buick still does better than my 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with it's 4.0 Liter straight-six.

Overall, this car is amazing, the white paint still has a mirrored shine to it, the chrome is barely starting to pit on the door handles and is shiny throughout, and the upgraded cloth seats are barely starting to show their wear.

I'll probably drive this car for years to come, but if anything should happen to it, I'd be in the market for another LeSabre, no doubt about it.

In case you're wondering I'm not a GM employee or anything, just a really, really satisfied owner.
