We just had our first window regulator failure and were told it would cost $570 to be repaired. I read an earlier post about calling the DOT Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and a NHTSA representative will record your complaint information. I can't remember the exact number of complaints on file that the person told me, but I believe it was 170. There is power in numbers so people need to either call there or go to safercar.gov. I don't recall what the cheapest and best way to fix this is, so I guess I'll have to go back and reread the comments. Good luck to all.

Current own a 2003 Buick La Sabre-purchased new. Last winter the driver side rear window broke and fell on a very cold night. Last week, had to fix the driver side window. I've spent near 1000 dollars for this nonsense. This week, I've taken the panel off the passenger side door and will attempt the repair my self. Am currently looking for information on how to deal with the cable arrangement and removal of the motor/regulator. I'm appalled at what I've just read about these power window units and the total lack of GM support. I've paid GM the last dollars they will see from me. I no longer wonder Toyota is near near #1 in sales.

I have a 2001 Buick Le Sabre. Both back windows went down last summer. I couldn't afford to have both repaired so I had the locked into place. I have read from other owners that the repair is only temporary anyway. Now the left front window is down. I'll have to repair it. This is the last Buick I'll own. I agree, with this many complaints, Buick should recall the car.

2000 Buick LeSabre Custom owner: Like thousands of others, I too had a failure with a rear power window. I pulled the interior panel off & pushed the window up to the closed position. Then used a $3 c-clamp on the track to keep there.

So far so good.

I have a 2001 Le Sabre with around 60,000 miles. About a month ago I had to replace the right front window regulator at a cost of around $250. My mechanic found the part for around $150, the rest was labor. Last week I had the same issue on the left rear door. I decided to replace it myself this time, trying to save money. I found a junk yard that sells new regulators for $75. I bought and installed one on Tuesday. By Wednesday it quit working. I took it back and he gave me a replacement. I installed it the same day. Today, I am having issues again. The window will go up with my help, but the motor starts to jitter about half way up. Acts like it doesn't have enough power to push the window up. Not sure what I am going to do now. After reading the comments on this site, I am considering buying a different car. That's unfortunate, because I love this car.

Check eBay, there are a lot of after market regulators for sale for the 2000-2005 LeSabre, many with lifetime warranties. Most are pretty reasonable on price too.

2000 LaSabre Buick Limited

My A\C on the driver and middle side blows only warm air. On the passenger side it still cools. What do I do?

I have a 2000 LeSabre. The FR regulator went out last winter... repaired for $400. The RL broke yesterday. I ordered the part for about $70. I'm going to fix it myself. Last Buick for me and I've had several. Once bitten twice shy!

I hope that is not the only reason you will never buy another Buick! Good grief, your car is close to 9 years old and the only complaint you mentioned was 2 broken power windows. You even said yourself you can fix these for under $100 if you do it yourself. Do you expect your car to work perfectly forever??

I had 2 of my windows go. I found the problem. There are 2 cables that control the window, One pulls the window up and one pulls the window down. The plastic bracket where the cables meet brakes. It could fixable if you could reattach the cable... But when your window brakes the first thing you do is try to raise or lower the window by the controls. Now the cables jam and get damage beyond repair. That's why the dealer told me its the cables that brake.

All GM needs to do is to upgrade and replace the small bracket BEFORE it brakes. Or at least offer the part instead making us pay $400 to replace the whole thing.

I fixed one window by reattached one of the cable but I didn't plug in the window till I can fix it for good. The other window's cable is beyond repair.

I've had my 2001 LeSabre for just over a year and the right passenger window dropped in the down position after I heard a pop. I'm having the dealer look at it tomorrow and will see how much the repairs are now. I filed a complaint with government as well hoping that this will push a recall to GM. Of course, with their current financial situation you'd hope they would be willing to step up for their current clients, otherwise, they could lose them forever. I, for one, will never buy another Buick based on the comments made here and my experience with my own. I'll stick with Honda and Toyota, where I have had very little problems.

My father's 2002 Buick Le Sabre just lost the left/driver side rear windows and it is the cable/regulator that's bad. I can't believe how many people are reporting this problem here. And there is no recall yet? Wow. Can anyone suggest the cheapest place to buy the part. I am going to do it myself. Thanks,

-Mike from Pittsburgh, PA.

I bought a Buick Le Sabre on 15/07/1999. Have 130,000 on it. Have replaced the tires, brakes 3 times, left tie rod end, front motor mount.

Today the FL window regulator went out - bought one on Ebay for $49.85 with free shipping & life time replacement.

Love the car. It still runs like new and gets between 27 and 32 mpg.

Would buy another one if they still made them.

In 2004 I purchased my mother-in-law's 2000 Buick Le Sabre. One of the most recent problems I have encountered is the rear right window would not close. Buick charged me almost $675!!! to rectify this problem. This Buick has only been driven 34,000 and is very well maintained. I am now waiting for the other three windows to fail. I have telephoned and written to General Motors and received their patronizing comments via telephone. In protest I have created two placards which will be stuck on my two back windows for Los Angelenos to view. Obviously with very negative comments about General Motors. These window problems should be part of a recall.

I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre, and have just lost my third window. I paid $350.00 to have the first one repaired. I just got off the phone and found a company that will repair the two that are now not working for $140.00 each, and will come to my house to fix them. This includes parts and labor and has a 1 year warranty. He recommended repairing the front only if I wanted to as the back is in the up position.

This is my third Buick in a row, and I will not buy a Buick again. I also had a Ignition Module fail, and Buick has a history in that area also of not backing up or recalling this type of problem that has resulted in fatal accidents.

I love the car, but the company should go down the tubes for not taken responsibility for their goofs.
