1965 Buick LeSabre Custom review from North America

"Great looking, solid, and reliable classic!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Two leaks were a constant irritation since the car was always kept outside (probably due to having always spent its life outside plus its high mileage). the top corner of the driver's side rear window had been leaking for years had almost destroyed the warped shelf above the rear seat.

2 bbl. Rochester carburetor would have needed rebuilt as engine had sometimes trouble running properly. I later found out that this carburetor was defective in many GMs of those years.

General comments?

I love this car! It's sharp and groovy lines are symbolic to very bygone era, while the 210 horsepower 310 Wildcat V8 gives good performance and reasonable fuel economy, even in today's standards.

Body construction is superb, all doors open and close like a vault door! Front bumper needed to be rechromed, as I've noticed with many high milleage '65 full-size Buicks .

Seats are very comfortable while the instrument panel is one of the coolest ever desinged, with a drawer type of bin for a glove compartment. Speedometer and gas gauge look great, but placed too low to view while driving. Heater is excellent!

This Buick LeSabre had a firm and gentle ride, even though it would bounce a little too much once it hit a big pothole, or big enough bump at a high speed.

On a day when the temperature plummeted to -15 Celcius, the LeSabre still started up, Thought battery had to be boosted.

It's no wonder why the Buick LeSabre has always been one of the best made American cars since it was introduced back in 1959. Wouldn't you rather have a Buick?
