1991 Buick Park Avenue Ultra review from North America

"Great and roomy teenager car with lots of power and great for long road trips because it's cushy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The clear coat is coming off of the hood.

The Service Engine Soon light will not turn off (cost to fix= approx $1000).

Driver side power door lock does not work.

Keyless entry remote became usless (after driver side door lock broke) and stopped working in general.

Sometimes the automatic headlights don't click off if the time delay is set to the higest position. (This has happened to my grandma even when it was brand new).

At about 120k miles, rust starts to form on the rear doors- but it's not visible until you open the door.

I've just recently noticed that at about 150k miles, the transmission lurches between the 1st and 2nd geers.

My dad has replaced the water pump a number of times and has come to the conclusion that it is nearly impossible to get to the pump without straining every muscle in your body.

General comments?

Other than the numerous engine and electrical problems, this car has been very dependable.

Starts every time.

Rides smoother than most newer luxury cars today.

Superior power- more so than new Hondas and Mazdas. Enough to power pass cars in short distances withouth using a whole tank of gas.

Great acceleration. The car comes to life during acceleration.

It drives like a boat- the only bad thing. There is a lot of roll when turning corners and it dives foreward when stopping even lightly.
