"A poor choice for a high mileage car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Paint peeling off the hood and doors (when we bought the car)

Straps on glove box broken.

Heater coil replaced, (leaking) 159000 miles.

Radiator flushed, (car trying to run hot) 160000 miles.

Water pump started leaking 160000 miles.

Freeze plug leaking, (rusted through) 160000 miles.

Head gasket started leaking causing engine to run hot and wiping out crankshaft, 1620000 miles.

General comments?

The car looked good and was bought from a close coworker, but has not been very dependable. it rode good and had a cold air conditioner.

Dear Friend.

Your friend either drove the car hard and passed it on to you. Or maybe you didn't take care of it.

But with 159000 miles, any car would be due for a lot of things to be replaced.

Buick has never disappointed me, but there are exceptions to any rule.

Dear friend, I also have a 1995 Buick skylark with a lot of the same problems you mention, still have 15 more easy payments. lately this car will not start in extreme cold weather. we tried putting in a new fuel filter and a battery, didn't fix the problem. the dealer tells me its radiator needs to be replaced and the water pump is seeping water and I suspect its just a matter of time before we have to replace the head gasket. I have been a stickler for upkeep with my car and even with 150,000 miles I did not expect these extremely costly problems. would I buy another one, no way!
