1999 Cadillac Catera review from North America
"A huge disappointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I owned the car only four months. In four months I had 7 loaner cars.
The heated seat malfunctioned and wouldn't shut off.
Water leaks in the two front doors, which shorted out the speakers.
In six thousand miles I went through 2 sets of rotors, front and back.
All four tires had to be changed twice.
The oxygen intake sensor had to be replaced.
The computer blew up.
The transmission blew up to.
After 100 miles on the new transmission that also went again.
The traction control locked up.
General comments?
The dealership had to buy the car back from me.
It was a very big disappointment to me, for I had always wanted a Cadillac.
I miss my car very much, but could not afford the constant bills for repair that it required.
I went to a Cadillac dealership and had all the repairs done there.
These people knew how to work on this car.
They told me that this was why they didn't take
these cars in on trade-ins anymore.
And they actually referred to the Catera as a "Souped up Chevy Malibu."
