2005 Cadillac CTS review from North America
"Cadillac finally gets one right"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
No mechanical issues!
General comments?
I bought my CTS in November of 2006 with 21k on the clock. It is black with the sport/luxury package, which gets the 17" sport alloy spokes. Very sharp!
I have only put about 25k on the vehicle to date as I do not drive the vehicle in winter. Overall the car has lived up to my expectations. I completely agree with everything written in regards to the Goodyear RSA tires, which were stock. GARBAGE! I replaced them immediately with a set of Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires... $1300 and worth every dime.
I've had the ability to take this vehicle to a race track (Road America) and do some laps. The car handles amazing, considering the weight of it. The 3.6 liter motor paired with the sport mode button transform it to an aggressive machine!
Dislikes... Foot operated parking brake. The e-brake can be lot of fun as a driving input but not if its on the floor. The dashboard is pretty boring. The trunk lid is too heavy on the backside of the lid, making it easy to come down on your head. My girlfriend drew blood once... :( The seats are OK... but start to get a little uncomfortable on long trips.
I also replaced the front brake pads with EBC Red series ceramic pads. Another great improvement. Way more feel than the stock pads and less brake dust.
