2002 Cadillac DeVille review from North America
"Nice car, just too expensive to repair"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Torque converter solenoid went out at 70,000 miles.
Window regulators broke at various times.
Heater fan quit at 80,000.
Rear speakers blew at 85,000.
Had trouble with brake rotors warping.
General comments?
This is the second Deville that I have owned, and I would never own another one. I thought that when I bought GM's top of the line car, that I would be getting a car that was well built and reliable. It was a very comfortable car, but the quality was not nearly what I was expecting, and the repair costs were outrageous in my opinion.
I drive about 40,000 miles a year, and pay close attention to all the operating costs of the cars that I owned, and the Deville was by far the most expensive to operate that I have ever owned. I decided that the nice ride was not nice enough to justify the excessive cost. For example, the repair bill on the heater fan was close to $500. I remember when you could buy one of these for $20 and install it yourself in 15 minutes. Maybe I am just getting too old!
