We've had very little repairs over the last 12 years.
Air conditioner had to be replaced in 2001. Heater currently doesn't work, but who cares in Texas.
The motor for the antenna went out a couple times, the last time we just cut the cable to it and left it up. Works fine.
This has been an outstanding vehicle. It has never failed to take me to work every day. We call it old faithful.
The finish on the car is still smooth and shiny, even after many years of sitting outside in over 100 degree heat.
This car still has the original motor, transmission, body parts, and even headlights! Throughout the years we did regular maintenance (i.e., changed oil every 3000 miles - used Valvoline). This great old car does not use oil and still runs almost as smooth and quiet as when we got it.
Best of all it gets approx. 30 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg city.
How do all you Deville owners achieve this outrageous gas mileage? Mine never gets better than 17 miles a gal, and that's babying it at 55 miles per hr.
This car is totally incapable of achieving that kind of mileage. Unless the rules of physics don't apply to all you Deville owners.
I know about 6 people that own early 90 Devilles, and nobody gets even near the mileage you people claim. And my car is in tip top shape!!!
About outrageous mileage claims. I had a friend with a 65 Mustang who thought he had great mileage. The way he figured it, was he filled up his gas tank every time it got to half full, and based on how big he knew his tank was he calculated how much gas he was using. He had no clue gas tank gauges are not accurate for use that way.
I bought a '91 Sedan DeVille from an estate almost 5 years ago. It was a well maintained one owner and had 98,000 miles. Last week, the torque converter packed up and I decided to donate it to charity. It had only 109,000 miles which is fairly low considering its age and I don't drive many miles per year. I loved the car and was sorry to let it go but the cost of repair exceeded the value despite it being rust free and otherwise in excellent condition. I immediately began a search for another '91 or '92 but came across a '96 Eldorado ETC.
My mileage with the '91 was as low as 10 in short city hops during our frigid N. IL winters but I always got 22-23 on highway trips. I loved that car and would buy another in an instant if I hadn't found the ETC.
