2001 Cadillac DeVille DTS Touring Sedan review from North America
"Excellent, my dream package"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Key is worn, so sometimes the vehicle will not start for a couple of minutes.
General comments?
This car is the best car I've owned. In fact, its such a great car, that I've owned TWO!! The first I owned was a 2001 Deville and I loved it, the ride is buttery smooth without too much pitch or roll. The interior was very comfortable leather. The sound system was very well balanced. The 32 Valve Northstar provided reliable power in any situation. The transmission shifted smoothly almost unnoticeably. Unfortunately the vehicle was involved in an accident and deemed a total loss.
I decided to get a STUNNING black DeVille DTS...WOW! this vehicle is fitted with the more powerful version of the Northstar and it shows! The Cadillac has gobs of power readily available at all times. The wheels catch the attention of so many people it almost gets old, yet it never gets old! (lets face it, everyone likes attention).
The interior, which I thought could not get more comfortable, is somehow more comfortable, especially with the addition of a heat and massage function. The passenger mirror automatically dip when the vehicle is put in reverse in anticipation of a parallel park (the feature can be disabled) and the ultra sonic rear park assist lets me know when my rear bumper is in danger while backing. Parking spaces I used to pass up are now fair game and I almost always get them.
The audio system is also much better. Cadillac decided to include a 6 Disc changer in the DTS and fitted it with the bose package, the digital signal processing is great and makes every song sound so much better.
My Cadillac DTS includes the memory seat package which remembers two drivers settings for seats, ac/heat, radio, mirror and steering wheel. When a driver unlocks the Cadillac with his or her keyfob then uses his or her key to start the car, it automatically and gracefully moves the seat to the correct position puts the sterring wheel at the right angle and sets the radio station to the drivers favorites.
I've not had a problem with the vehicle yet!
