2003 Cadillac Escalade review from North America
"Great Truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My transfer case failed at 54,000 miles. With no warning the truck started to vibrate heavily at highway speed, took it to the dealer, and he said the output shaft bearing was shot. When it failed it also cracked the case. Repair cost is $2,842.00 for a remanufactured transfer case, including 5.5 hours of labor, and new slip yoke and u-joint.
Since new, when going uphill at 20-30 mph and turning sharp right, the stability system activates by shutting fuel flow off, and automatically activating brakes. Dealer said they have no fix, kept telling me new software would fix it, but finally gave up. If one manually turns off the stabilitrack, then the truck turns fine.
General comments?
Truck has great looks. Cadillac corporate does not seem to care much about customer service, except for sending out surveys about their dealers - the real problem seems to be the corporation - not the dealers. As my local dealer said today - "our new district manager is a real idiot".
Last time I buy a Cadillac - I have owned an Eldorado, an STS, a DeVille Concours, a DeVille DTS (still own). After spending almost a half-million dollars on GM cars - I am done with them. No more.
