"Not recommended for a family on a budget"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

No extraordinary events leading up to this problem. Massive sudden electronic failures of accessories systems.

Parking brake release, loss of power to seats, cab lights out, front AC passenger side blows hot only, no power to door locks, no response to key-less entry, valet switch stopped working, rear window defogger stopped working, rear AC blower stopped working and electronic trunk and fuel release mechanisms no longer work.

Consequences are possibility of car electronic system breaking down in traffic. All fuses, relays and circuit breakers are good. I had a day off and painstakingly checked each one. Cadillac dealer wants $175.00 + parts just to repair the door locks. This could cost between $1200 - $2000 to correct all issues.

General comments?

Great performance, lousy accessory electronics.

It's funny I had the same thing happen to my 1997 Seville SLS. It didn't happen all at once, but the same things went out.

Thanks for illuminating me! I have just been living with it, but today my windows went out and I can't get them down.

My neighbor was going to check the fuses, but now I am worried. It sounds like it's more than a fuse problem as illustrated by this last post. I am considering the "Clunker" program at 115,000 miles; it's a shame --- I liked the car, but don't want to spend the cash to fix it!
