1999 Cadillac Seville STS review from North America

The first 20,000 miles were wonderful. Then suddenly the light "Service Engine Soon" came on. Took it to the dealer, and after 5 days of ongoing diagnostics and repair, the car ran well for only ten days. The average gas mileage went from 19 miles per gallon to 11 miles a gallon, the car lost it's peppiness, and the automatic electric seats started acting spontaneously on their own. Took the car back to the dealer 6 more times, and never got it well. When I called Cadillacs 1-800 line for customers I was told that they could not help me. When I called GMAC financing trying to get out of my lease, I was told: "Sorry".

After 4,000 miles and at least 12 trips to the service department I got no relief. Still, everytime I was told that everything was OK, and it was not OK. The car runs poorly, the computer states that the car needs a service soon, and although it has lost strength and the seats have gone crazy, the company does not seem to stand behind it's product. This may be the Flagship of Cadillac's serious cars, but in my case it was a real "lemon." After contacting the local office of the Attorney General, the Dealer has let me out of the lease.

I am happy again... I bought another Lexus.

This car hopefully is performing for other owners. In my case I believe I could not get good service.
