1999 Cadillac Seville STS review from North America
"I pity the individual who owns this unit once past the warranty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Multiple electrical problems, since new.
Oil consumption since new.
Fit and finish problems since new.
General comments?
This vehicle cannot make 5,000 km, without the oil light coming on. GMC has advised that 1 litre of oil for every 1,680 km is acceptable. For a "flagship" car!
The dealership states that they cannot believe GM's position, but further state they will only service as directed by GM. Have attempted to take the issue beyond the dealer to GM direct, through 1-800 and Internet, response to both was that the problem would be dealt with, within 72 hours. 72 hours and several months later, and no further contact has ever been made.
Any manufacturer can make a poor car or for that matter a good car, never had a problem with the Riviera (at mid $40's) nothing but problems with STS (at mid $70's). If GM intends to compete with high end imports, they may have the car on paper, but they have not yet begun to close the gap on after sale service.
