Now I am trying to sell the car, but the price is low because the people know that there are great problems with the car, especially the suspension. Also, I live in Zagazig where most of the streets are hard, and may affect the car, so in Zagazig this car has a bad history.
I'm the original poster.
I've travelled 37,000 km in the car till now.
Here are the problems I faced.
1-AC filter gettes cloged every 5000 kms and I have to clean it at the dealer
2-the glass is very white so the sun rays really heat the car, the performance on the AC would be much better if the glass was a little tinted
3-the clutch is heavy and does not act regularly. you can't leave the clutch once you change a gear, you have to accelerate a bit 1st with the clustch half pushed and then leave it. this is seriously hurting my knee in heavy tarffic.
4-the speedometer stopped working for 4 months until the dealer got me a new sensor to fix the issue, now the car shows 37,000 while I travelled almost 45,000.
5-the dashboard light keeps turning itself off at night. I know the problem is a losse connector but the dealers couldn't fix it for 3 visits now.
After all these complaints, I beleive the car is...GREAT!
I know it has a lot of small faults, but the dealer is fixing - or trying to fix them.
It is very stable at high speeds. I regularly reach 150 kms in the ring road (i live in 6 october and work in tagamo3 el khames new cairo, I drive 130 kms per day!!!)
the car is very reliable and not once did it not start or breakdown.
The fuel consumption is average, on ein sokna road in averaged 230 kms per 20 litres with AC.
It is VEEERY roamy in the back seat. my wife and mother love the room their.
This is not a refined car, it is a rough car. it shakes a lot in bumps and potholes, but it withstands them and doesn't break down, and I ve taken a lot of bumps.
I actaully bough a renault sceneic automatic to rplace it, but I eneded up selling the scenic at a loss and kept the speranza.
The car is a great driver car. very maneouverable, but with little refinement.
The driver seat is not very comfortable, but not that bad and not that differednt from the scenic.
I'll keep it till it falls down, or my knee start to really hurt, which ever is sooner.
If only it had a softer clutch!!!
The car is very good, stable and quite.
Till now i made 10000km and it is good.
My friend's A516 was badly damaged when involved in accident with 70km/h of speed, you know why? Because this A516 chassis is weak by using a low quality steel... he got serious injury on the head and body from the incident... before the accident, he told me that his A516 was giving him so much trouble since day one of owning... he wanted to sell the car, but the bad reselling value forced him to keep the car... so the worst thing is... the car was badly damaged and the reselling value will even worse after the car was repaired...
About myself:
My Proton Waja already traveled for about 110000km on the clock... it's never given any major problems since day one that I've owned it.. The engine is still smooth.. The A/C was great, even though I never serviced the A/C since I've owned the car..
The handling was superb with LOTUS engineering, very stable at high speeds, and I always drive at 140-150km/h daily.. suspension was great.
The only problem of my Waja before was the power windows switch.. I had replace it and it now perfectly functions, no problem with the interior.. dashboard is though, meter and lighting still perfectly function...
The chassis was strong (using GALVANIZED STEEL, HIGH TENSILE HIGH STRENTH STEEL) as it gets a 3 star rated from Europe NCAP test crash.. similar rate with BMW 3 series (also using GALVANIZED STEEL, HIGH TENSILE HIGH STRENGTH STEEL)...
From day 1 until almost 6 years of owning, I've often changed the tyres only... and my brake pads just have been changed once, and still serve me until now..
Overall.. Proton was better than Chery... it has a better lifecycle than Chery... try Proton at once, a new Proton Gen2 CPS 1.6L + VIMS... the new engine provide 125BHP of power... cheerss!!!
Every thing is good, but it has slow initial acceleration.
Well I am not sure about the resale value of the Proton nor what is its cost is compared to the Chery (Speranza). I do not believe that somebody would sell a Renault and keep a Chery - that is news...!
I have a Megane and I love the car. The seats and handling are superb.
Again, going back to our issue, from my opinion a Hyundai Accent or Chevy Aveo are much better than a Chery (Speranza), and anyone who is buying a Speranza now is gambling.
A 3 star in a euro Ncap (new car assessment programme) is not good. I do not know how our reader compared a Proton to a BMW anyway. The site information is for free, just log on to euro Ncap and find what you need. A minimum safe evaluation would be a 4 star.
Take care.
I own a Lancer 1600 AT & Speranza 516. My Speranza 516 is very good like the Lancer. It's the same room inside, but the finishing is different.
The 516's motor is so good. Great stability at high speeds.
Cold, cold A.C, but after service. Good suspension.
At the end the Speranza 516 is very good & better than the Verna & Lanos. Try to drive it to know more.
I like it so much.
OK guys... so, after all of this... can I buy the 2009 Speranza or no??
