1993 Chevrolet Astro CS review from North America
"Chevrolet loyalty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Wiring faults:side windows wouldn't go up or down, blower for heat/AC stopped working, cruise control turns on by itself.
Transmission problems: Started bucking when shifting at 1st and 2nd gear. The transmission shop said it was a common problem for this year Astro Van and that Chevrolet made a repair kit for the trans. So we had the transmission rebuilt for $1,600 and now, 3 mos. later it's doing it again.
Brake rotor on front driver side seems to be warped so there is considerable vibration in the steering wheel when applying the brakes.
Muffler replaced.
Smokes on startup. But it's hard to tell if it's smoke or condensation.
General comments?
Solid engine.
Low maintenance.
Dependable ride regardless
of the problems.
Spoiled by the "power" everything.
When we bought this van everything worked, and we felt we were in luxury-ville. It came with a 3 month warranty. Well, everything started going wrong at 3 mo and 2 weeks.
