1996 Chevrolet Astro Passanger LT review from North America
"Good Van, but expensive to keep on the road"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator went out at 149,500 miles.
Upper Ball Joint on passenger side at 149,500 miles, just two days after replacing alternator.
Power Steering Pump went out at 152,000 miles.
At 153,000 the Upper Ball Joint on the passenger side had to be replaced again, this time under warranty.
The ABS Wheel Sensor had to be replaced at 153,000 miles just the very next day.
Neutral Safety Switch had to be replaced at 154,000 miles.
Water Pump and Serpentine Belt both had to be replaced at the same time at 156,000 miles.
Shocks are needing replacement as we speak.
General comments?
I have owned this van for about 6 months, and during that 6 months have done about $1000 worth of work, and that's with it only being repaired by a repair shop once. The rest of the times myself or a family friend did the repairs.
The van doesn't have much cargo space with both back seats in. There is not much leg room in the front.
The seats are quite comfortable.
The van does have great power and good handling.
