2007 Chevrolet Aveo Aveo5 from North America - Comments

The rear passenger window leaked rain in, but when I tightened the window all the way up it stopped for the most part, I scratch the bottom of my car/front bumper when I was using a driveway to turn around makes me sad, the hubcaps are nice, but hard to clean and I have scratch them already. I have too many scratches on my bumper already from highway driving. Generally not anything like a real american (it's Deawoo made in Korea). The gearbox has a funny feeling compared to others, it is still getting broken into, but it feels like its getting used to my shifting habits. Overall I love it, big windows are nice, but they blow too much dust into my eye, just the new sitting position compared to my old coupe is different, like the handling, I love the steering, I have heard that there is a problem with the gas tank and I should not fill up and top off, so I just get enough gas to have over 3/4 of the tank when I fill up. I have the SVM and I have no AC or CD, but I like the radio a lot for what it is. My First car on my own and I love it, sad I scratch the cheap plastic so easily inside and out. still getting used to the dimensions. I like it better then the sedan version. I like the easy park, turning radius and the suspension has made me happy so far. Engine is loud, but it's to be expected from a 4 banger,I don't race this car, it's not one to be ran hard. I am afraid of the funny feeling transmission. still excited about new car. it's very cheaply made and it shows, but I have always secretly wanted a deawoo matiz and this is as close to a matix as it gets. :) gas millage is right on 30 mpg and I hope it improves, I drive slower 60 and less usually and they say I have to drive 75 if I want to get the gas millage, don't know how true that is, if you could clear it up I would appreciate. :) Gave up a fully loaded luxurious coupe for this car and still loving.

Hi, I am the original poster of this review, it's been 30 days since I have owned my aveo5 now, last night someone tried to break into my car, and managed to damage and break off both front door handles and break the locks, now my door do not open and I have body panel damage, it's the weekend and I have to wait till Monday to take my car in for an estimate of the damage done, I don't know if I should be happy that they could not get in and drive it away, or be sad that someone damaged my perfectly brand new car. I am very sad : (thinking of trading it in for a used car that I don't have to worry about. : (I was just starting to love it too. The dealer says its worth around 7 grand after 30 days and 700 miles. : (think before you buy.

Well since this post, I hope you kept your car. Its worth substantially more than 7k now with gas over $4, and close to $5 in Cali.

I doubt that higher gas prices would make a used Aveo worth more than it was a year ago. The Chevrolet dealers in my area have no shortage of supply of new ones, and are offering discounts and other incentives to move them.

It would be nice if you could buy a Daewoo Matiz like what the original poster mentioned. But it probably doesn't hold up to N. Americas stringent safety & emissions standards.
