I bought an 06 Aveo a year ago... And I LOVE IT!!! I could not ask for a better car. I recently went on a trip and on highway only I got 39-40 mpg. (and my speed-o-meter is right on).
The only problem I've had is that the computer would not update. But they replaced it and I've not had a problem since.
I have actually had 3 people buy Aveos because of mine.
I have had my Aveo for about a year now, and it was fine at first. The only problems were that the brake fluid was low, and when I took it into the dealer they said, oh, it is just low, but we don't know why. Turns out it was the master cylinder. It needed to be replaced less than a year later because the brakes went out almost completely.
The clock keeps going in and out... funny the dealer couldn't figure out what that was either.
Right now I am dealing with the car dying when you start it. The Chevy dealer tells me it will cost about 900 dollars to fix it.
This cheap car turned expensive really quick. It has 36000 miles on it and I have had nothing but problems already. Please please don't buy a Chevy Aveo!!! There is no doubt in my mind that you will regret it.
I am pretty sure my transmission is going out. I HATE this car!!!
I bought an 06 Aveo two years ago and I love it. Having over seventy thousand miles on it all ready and really no major problems. Replaced throttle body, which seems to be the norm. Ceramic brake pads work great and always use 89 octane gas. And replacing the timing belt every 60k is a must.
I have a 2006 Chevy Aveo, and various panel lights continue to come on in my vehicle. The battery light came on and off when it decided to, and every time I took it to the dealer while it was on, they would just turn the car off, and then turn it back on, so the light would of course be out by that time.
Eventually, after taking it 4 days in a row for the battery light and being sent away, the car broke down on the side of the road so they had to find a problem then. Another time I couldn't turn the key and the shifters were stuck. I couldn't do anything with it. So they replaced the whole shift column.
Now the airbag light is on for the second time, and since the warranty is up, the problem has been found.
I like the car, I just don't like the hassle of trying to get the problem diagnosed. It's almost like no one knows anything until the warranty is out of the picture. This is my first car so I'm not an expert. I'm sure stuff goes wrong all the time with any other car. I just don't like to be given the run around. If I'm going to pay thousands of dollars for a car, I would like it to function properly.
