1997 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"I wish I would have never bought it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I will try to remember everything that went wrong. About a week after I bought it the heat wouldn't work. Took back to the dealer to get it fixed. I think that was the only thing I did get fixed for free. The hazard switch on top of the column broke off so I have had to jury rig it so that the hazards won't stay on and drain my battery. The side mirrors are vibrating so bad that the passenger side mirror broke. (I am waiting for the same thing to happen with the drivers side) At around 90k I noticed that I kept losing antifreeze. Took it to a mechanic to find out that the head gasket went and I had to have the engine rebuilt. (According to the mechanic he said this is a known issue for this year vehicle) That was nice to know especially when I was still making payments on it and I had to spend an extra $2,000 to have it repaired. Right at the same time the fuel pump went. There was another $400. A little over a year later the fuel pump went again. This was perfect timing to find out that it only had a 1 year warranty and I had to spend another $400 to get it replaced. I am now having ignition problems. It is just setting in my garage because it won't start. I guess a tow truck is in order to get the ignition switch replaced. I originally paid $7,000 for the vehicle and have put about half of that amount in repairs in the past 4 years. If anyone is considering buying one of these vehicles BEWARE!!!
