2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"This vehicle has been a disappointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This is the 4th Chevy Blazer I have owned. It is a very good looking vehicle, but it sure does have issues.
Mileage has been a disappointment. It gets at the very best when I baby it around 17MPG. Most of the time it averages about 13-14MPG. Mileage should have been much better. My previous Blazer S10's got 18-22MPG. This model only hold 18 Gallons vs 20 on previous models, limiting the range I can drive before refuelling it. The gas gauge is not the most reliable. It is will sometimes think it is low on fuel when it really isn't.
The back hatch constantly squeaks. Very annoying and haven't' been able to fix it.
Ball joint have been a problem on all Blazers I've owned.
There is not as much room in the newer model.
The automatic seat is difficult to adjust to a comfortable position.
So far, no major problems, but it has been a letdown after my previous one's I have owned.
General comments?
The 2001 Blazer LS has no problems with its looks. If you own one, the 5 speed manual transmission is much more reliable than the automatics, because the autos fail and have major issues.
It handles and drives well in the snow.
The automation is overkill in some cases, and periodically malfunctions.
So far, I don't mind driving it, but I miss my 1991 Blazer S10, which was a much better vehicle.
