Overall a good car, just time and mileage takes it's toll, no matter how well the car is built

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4 door review from North America

"Very reliable vehicle"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Seat recliner levers, 2 drivers 1 passenger.

Rear brakes prematurely wore out, problem was frozen caliper sliders. Now when I rotate the tires I pop off the calipers and lube the sliders if necessary.

Replaced fuel pump and sender 90-100k, sender acted up first then the pump. Fuel level sensor is available separately from the dealer but not the pump.

Not happy with the drippy oil cooler lines, that is something GM should have figured out long ago.

Replaced both front wheel bearings before 100k, no problems since.

What I would consider general maintenance:

Spark plugs @100K.

Cap & Rotor @ 100K & 110K. Used aftermarket the first time then replaced with a/c delco and still going good.

Lower ball joints and idler arm, 100K.

Original tires went 85-88K miles, second set still going at 136K.

Replaced drivers door hinge pin/bushings @45K, need to be replaced again.

General comments?

The sheet metal and paint on this vehicle have been fantastic! Even with 130K+ it still shines great! It may have been waxed twice since we owned it, it is black as well.

Minimal rust and it started life in Michigan and now resides in Wisconsin.

Only time it left us stranded was not the cars fault. Days after we bought it the fuel line popped off the filter--quick disconnect fitting. Dealer replaced the filter when we bought it. Crawled under and reconnected the fitting by hand and we were off (did smell of gas thou).

Still have the original exhaust on the vehicle. Only engine work has been a water pump and lower intake gasket. No transmission work, transfer case work or axle work.

Overall we have been very satisfied with the track record of the vehicle. Ours was bought as a lease return unit and we paid 1/2 of the sticker price.
