1997 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"It's a piece of junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Apparently, I'm not alone in this nightmare. The fuel guage sensor went out at 55,000 miles - 1 1/2 years after warranty. The dealer was willing to replace it for $600, but it would be guaranteed for life. What about the one that came with the vehicle? If the part is good enough to last for life the second time I buy it, it should be good enough to last forever the first time I purchase it!
At the same time, the air conditioner developed a slow leak... still not fixed.
The pulley holding the serpentine belt blew apart while driving.
The windshield wipers work intermittently, but GM says they'll fix even out of warranty until February 2004.
The ball joints have been replaced once under warranty; once after.
The worst is the transmission. It hard shifts between 1st and 2nd. Spent $380 to have the lower valve unit replaced. Seems that may not have been the problem, still doesn't shift properly.
Talked to General Motor's "customer care" center. Their response to all problems has been "What do you expect, it's an old vehicle". What good will those 100,000 mile spark plugs do for us?
General comments?
I will never again own a General Motors product. The next vehicle will be a Honda.
