2000 Chevrolet Blazer from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front brakes locking, turned out to be a passenger side wheel bearing needed to be replaced.

No heat, water pump went and a vacuum connector under the dash.

Back brakes replaced when I bought the Blazer in August 2003, they were replaced again plus the calipers the following August because they were seizing.

The fuel gauge did not work when I got the blazer I called the dealer where I bought it from and he told me to just keep it full. thanks.

The door bushing on the driver side has dropped through.

The drive pulley had to be replaced.

The power steering pump had to be replaced.

The driver side wheel bearing decided to go two months ago.

The u-joint needed to be replaced.

The differential seal needed to be replaced.

The driver side handle on the seat came off in my hand.

And now the clunking in the front is the lower ball joints.

General comments?

This vehicle has cost me a fortune, I was looking for a reliable vehicle and ended up with this nightmare.

I own a 2000 GMC Sonoma HighRider P/U; it has a similar chassis to the Blazer's, and

is the same vehicle as the Blazer really.

My advice is this: Unless you know how to do your own repairs this Truck/SUV well eat you alive.

I got my truck from my son-in-law who had to rely on "professional" mechanics and quick oil change and lub places; while he was in college. The problem is the oil change joints never lubed the front end (ball joints, tie rod ends idler arm pitman arm) and because of this these parts failed prematurely. The people that call themselves mechanics on Monday are something else on Tuesday these days.

I invested in tools and good manuals years ago I fixed all the large and small things wrong with all my vehicles myself; and now I can say I would drive it anywhere, anytime.

4X$'s are inherently more troublesome than conventional automobile chassis setups; and people should be aware of the extra maintenance costs involved.
