1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT review from North America

"No complaints, over 195,000 worry free dependable miles"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Remote oil filter line started to leak at 65,000 miles. Had it replaced and it hasn't leaked since. Odometer reading at time of writing (2-8-2005) : 196,443.

Power door lock actuator failed on July 22, 1995 (wedding day), covered by warranty and has not failed since.

No other problems. Battery failed at 6 years, but hey it's a battery they die.

General comments?

I ordered my Blazer on December 4, 1994 and took possession on January 22, 1995. It has never let me down. I abuse my vehicles and this one is certainly bullet proof. It's quick off the line, largely due to the 200 HP 4.3 engine and 3.73:1 rear axle ratio with a locking differential. Can smoke most vehicles off the line. Top end is another story. It doesn't due much over 103 mph, must either be governed or a simple physics limitation. It has the aerodynamics of a brick. But I didn't purchase it for top end speed.

Seating is comfortable. The LT has leather and lumbar support. My only regret is that a sunroof was not an available option in 1995. Go figure!

I don't plan on replacing it until it gives up the ghost. Even though I abuse it, get it mired in mud up to its doors off roading, it shows no signs of slowing down, becoming weak or wearing out. When it does decide to go, I'm guessing it will be well beyond 225,000 miles.

Folks, general maintenance is the key to owning vehicles and keeping them problem free and dependable.
