2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"A very disappointing experience"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Within 2 weeks of owning the car the transmission started to leak. The dealership replaced the pump inside the transmisson, which involved dropping the transmission to install
the part. They also noticed the power steering pump line was leaking and replaced it. A year after that my 4 wheel drive would not engage. The dealership replaced an electronic switch in or around the transfer case. A year after that my gas gauge stopped working. The dealership replace the sending unit in the gas tank, which involved dropping the gas tank to install it. 2 years later the 4 wheel drive would not engage again. The dealership replace the same electronic switch and also fixed an oil leak coming from the oil filter line. I asked him about my drivers door being out of adjustment and was told they can only replace the hinges. (Not
covered by extended warranty.) I am on my 5th year and the extended warranty has expired. It has now come to my attention that one of the front wheel bearings is bad after 62000 miles of highway use. Best quote for a good made part is $140.00 and I have to install it myself or pay the unfair prices to have it done. I am used to moderate repairs and maintenance issues, but the Chevy S-10 4WD Blazer is not a vehicle you can feel good about. A 100,000 miles seems a long way away.
General comments?
Chevy S-10 Blazers are not built to last 100,000 miles without major repairs.
