1995 Chevrolet Blazer T10 4wd review from North America
"I really do like this SUV"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Blazer had about 80,000 when bought. Replaced alternator and water pump myself. Replaced the octopus fuel regulator/injector myself. Plastic type housing over air conditioning items in engine compartment has broken off in various pieces. Replaced brake pads myself. Found all engine freeze plugs corroded had garage replace a couple. Had the oil line blow just as I turned off the engine - think the garage damaged it when doing an oil change since the hose and metal coupler adapter separated and it's real easy to hit that connection when trying to get the oil filter off. Think the O2 sensor needs replacing.
General comments?
I like the blazer. It's easy to work on and parts are readily available. The 4 wheel drive works beautifully whenever I kick it in during the snow season.
I added a pair additional backup lights which I mounted to the tow bar and tied into the backup light circuit. I'd like to add a separate wiring run from the battery for these lights to work via a relay.
I would like to boost its power some what, but that's not really necessary for my usual driving. Its got a little over 140,000 miles on it now.
I like folding down the rear seats and having all that luggage space.
I'm thinking of pulling out the standard radio w/ cd player and putting in a smaller Sony or Panasonic unit which would leave space to mount a 2 meter transciever in the dash.
I'm also looking at running a 12V DC line with standard 12V utility socket back to the tow bar area - probably the bumper/fender area near the trailer cable pass through. It would be switched and fused.
Only complaint is difficulty reading the error codes since the computer interface jack doesn't seem to match the manuals. The label in the engine compartment says OBD2 but the interface connector doesn't look like an obd2 connector.
I really do like this SUV.
