1995 Chevrolet Blazer S10 2 door review from North America

"Just paid off and now the repair costs kick in"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The brake system has been a nightmare. We have replaced the brakes 3 times and now in the past year a recall for the brakes was sent.

Prior to that, we replaced an EGR valve - less than 1 month later a recall is sent for EGR.

Most recently, 3 times now, in the past few months my vehicle loses braking ability for no apparent reason. Prior to the loss of brakes, the car seems to run rough.. sounding like it will stall out. The exhaust gets noisy then the brake pedal becomes very stiff and goes to the floor. The braking distance doubles and is very frightening.

In the past 2 weeks I have replaced the catalytic converter ($800.00) because the mechanic thought a oxygen sensor was leading to the car power being lost and ultimately loosing power braking. Well, of course this did not work. A few days later - again I cannot stop and the car is back in the shop with the EGR valve being replaced for a second time.

Just 2 days ago - again this occured. I again returned it - now I am being told they cannot detect the problem and unless I can bring it to the dealer exactly at the moment this is happening (which means driving without brakes) then they cannot detect it.

Finally, the best part... I work 8-5 (common huh??) and drive approximately 20 miles to work each day - the dealer/service center is closed at 5:30 pm and open to 8 pm on thursdays. So the plan is - this can only happen again on Thursday, after work, on my way home.

My recommendation - don't buy a first year, new model car, ever!!!!
