1989 Chevrolet C1500 W/T review from North America

"Fair quality truck without costing a bundle"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When I bought the truck, the speedometer worked, however odometer didn't. Odometer showed 152,000 miles when truck was bought in 2/04 and it still shows the same exact mileage, however the truck from using car fax was able to determine the truck by this time has closer to 190,000 miles.

Seat belt buckles were broke when truck was bought.

It also turns out that the the truck has electrical problems. If I have my passenger side turn signal on or off, and hit my brakes, every light bulb goes out in the rear. Also if I turn on my four way flashers, after I turn them off, all my front turn signals bulbs blow out at the same time (all four of them).

Clutch is just beginning to go bad and I figure in less than six months I'll have to replace the clutch.

General comments?

Overall the vehicle has been a fairly descent truck. It has never left me stranded, and if I need to get somewhere in a hurry, I have no problem doing so. The 4.3L V6 with the 5-speed manual transmission really makes a great combination, and I can out run most other 6 cylinders, and even a few 8 cylinders. Truck has some through the body rust right behind the doors on the cab, passenger and driver-sides, along with some surface rust on the driverside wheel-well of the bed, but less than most vehicles that age. It is a descent truck that runs strong even with high mileage and gets OK gas mileage. Besides the electrical problems on the tail lights and most likely the odometer also, which I have known many GM products to have some electrical problems, it is a good strong truck.
