1992 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Heritage Edition review from North America
"Great First Muscle Car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My mechanic put a Flowmaster on the car as I was signing the papers to buy it. He put the muffler to close to my gas tank. While I was driving in 100 degree heat, My car lost all power almost suddenly, at the time I was merging and I didn't not make the merge and was T-boned by a 02 Hyundai Sonata. The Sonata was totaled but I walked away with some moderate damage. It was due to the muffler heating my gas tank and the gas melted my injectors.
I got my injectors replaced at 92,250 miles. I had to get a new oil filter at 92,500. I also had to replace my fuel pump at 92,550.
General comments?
This car is very quick, the 305 engine needs a modern day tune, but you'll be surprised how the car runs against modern cars. I would not advise getting the TBI model, they are slow as honda civics.
The automatic is good and the manual tranny works well.
I have the automatic tranny and it shifts strong and makes me lose control of the car all the time.
Speaking of losing control, upgrade the tires on this car!!! I was racing a '89 Mustang and I was ahead by 1 car length, then my car shifted into 4th and I lost control and T-boned him. RIP Adam.
