In the past 3 years I've replaced head gaskets, alternator (twice), along with some other minor repairs.
I've got a white 92' RS with a 305 v8 engine and red heritage edition racing stripes. First off the 305 is a dog of an engine, if you're looking for a 3rd generation camaro stick with the 350. (A stock 3rd-gen 350 isn't exactly great either, but you'll have more upgrade options in the aftermarket). The 305 is a decent daily commuter, but it just doesn't have the steam to keep up with any of the other V8 engines. It's got a quick first gear, but that's as good as it gets.
Inside, the car has lots of cheap plastic paneling, but has good room for both the driver and front passenger. My biggest complaint is all the squeaks and rattles inside the car from the plastic. Above 20 mph the car starts to sound like a mouse infested hayloft in a windstorm.
Well that's one story and I'm sure you think so, but one bad apple don't spoil the bunch. I have a 92 white Rs 25th
anniv. edition and let me say I'm pleased. I have the 305 as well and Ill say this. I have owned Camaros for a long time and I can say without doubt that the noises ya here and the feel of the car is accurate. It has a stiffer than average suspension and it has quite a bit of plastic to be sure. The 305 is a great work horse and with some creative and rather inexpsensive mods can be made to perform accordingly however out of the box she is a bit slugish.
It has some yes I guess "cheap plastic" and there is quite a bit of room for a sportscar that's a fact. Notwithstanding
all that there is a reason it is this wa as I have through the years and that's that it is a CAMARO! I'm sorry that you seem so unhappy with your selection of car, but for those of us who love them near and dear as I do... the Camaro is just that and nothing more and we love them and modify them and drive them stock because they are Camaros! My advise is stop complaining and trade your Camaro in so a real fan can enjoy it as it deserves to be enjoyed and go get your self a Mitsubishi Eclipse I had one it's everything you are looking for in a performance sportscar and luckily for you its not a Camaro. Peace.
I have a '92 camaro rs heritage edition with a 305 c.i. engine. I am very pleased with my camaro and hate any negative thoughts toward any decent camaro. I also have an '89 iroc-z convertible from which I am extremely pleased. Except for the fact hurricane Katrina temporarily stopped my restoration. I also have an '86 extremely good condition with a 383 stroker under the hood.
