1994 Chevrolet Camaro coupe M5 review from Netherlands

"Sporty Head turner that will not break the bank, gas station or records"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

T-top rubber lining and windshield wiper motor.

I'm surprised nothing else broke over the past years considering the poor finish and quality on some parts.

I do have a strange whine under heavy acceleration which could indicate a water pump bearing going bad.

Not gonna worry about it as it will be replaced with a real engine this next fall (Lt-1 and 6 speed T56).

General comments?

Fell in love with the car due to it's unmatched exterior and the thrill it gives you riding it.

People look at it as if it's a Ferrari and I get as much attention and compliments!!

The interior is impressive at first, but after several days you'll notice the cheap American plastic and squeaks.

It's pretty comfortable and able to handle very well for a solid rear axle car with some suspension mods.

The brakes are pretty good, but for heavy usage not fit.

The engine is a total dissapointment in the performance part!!

It sounds good at idle (V8 like) but that noise turns into a definate V6 at higher rpms it screams and doesn't like to cross the 5000 rpm range.

An aftermarket exhaust does help in the sound department, but the power is just too little.

Forget about taking on GTI's since the weight of the car spoils the fun in combo with that underpowered engine.

It's in fact a bored and stroked 2.8 liter v6 (60 degree) found in the Fiero.

Engine needs at least an extra 40 (stock 160hp).

After years of driving it spoils much of the fun and isn't any fun to drive any more so I'm replacing the engine and transmission with a LT-1 350cid engine with a T56 (6 speed) transmission.

The engine is however VERY dependable and never left me stranded.

The 3.4 also is able to get good gas mileage and is ideal for those who live in countries where a lot of HP are sanctioned.

The overall finish is poor if you take a close look at anythung, but even after 7 years outside the overall appearance is a 200 mph car that looks light years ahead of it's time!!

Overal a very fun car for those who don't care too much about performance.

It will grab just as much attention as it's faster brother (Z28), will not break the bank and you will definitely experience the American 'feeling' when you drive it :)

No regrets buying the car, just regret not opting for the Z28 package (V8) in the first place.
