1990 Chevrolet Camaro RS review from North America
"Overall an OK car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission shifts hard into 2nd gear.
Timing chain was replaced.
Water pump was replaced.
Exhaust has been replaced a few times, it hangs low and scrapes the ground.
Replaced brake line in front passenger side, it busted while I was driving it and lost my front brakes.
Had to totally replace rear brakes (drum, lines, pads, rotors) the rear brakes were completely shot (within a few months after front brake line went)
Replaced distributor cap, rotor button, and ignition coil.
Replaced ignition module.
Replaced both inside door handles because they just snapped off.
Has electrical problems (dome light had to be pulled because it would not shut off, horn does not work because it causes everything to go dim, and used to buzz annoyingly due to wires touching in the dash.
Interior is awful (headliner did not hold up and had to be removed)
Ignition is messed up because you can start it without the key.
Paint has chipped off of several spots on the car. The hood is the worst because it has lost most of the paint.
Replaced the gear shift cover due to cracking.
Goes through tires quickly because something is wrong with the front end of the car and it wears tires down really fast.
I originally paid $1,000 for the car. Since owning the car we have put over $2,000 into it in repairs. I'm sure there is more, but this has already taken a while to type out.
General comments?
This is definitely not a family car.
The car is small and low to the ground.
The Camaro is a beautiful car, but we have had so many problems with ours. Each year this car has a birthday and something seems to go wrong.
It has speed and power and seems pretty decent on gas mileage.
