Basically all this car needed was general work any car with almost 100K miles would have need especially since I am the third owner of this fine automobile. Other than the simple problems, this car runs fantastic and is so nice to drive in just to relax because it is so big and comfortable. I wish I would have purchased the LT1 5.7 litre Caprice, but the deal I got for this was something I couldn't pass up and for how small the engine is, this 4.3 litre moves this 4200lb. car fairly nice. Usually big cars with V8 engines were associated with bad fuel mileage, but that is not the case with this car since it gets about 17-18mpg city and 25-28mpg highway.
Are you sure it's a V8, because I didn't think Chev made a 4.3 V8. They make a 4.3 V6 and a 5.0 and 5.7 V8. Of course,I was wrong once before...
And you are wrong again. Chevy did make a 4.3 liter V8, the L99, aka the "baby LT-1", used as the base engine in the 94-96 Caprice sedan. The wagons got the LT-1 as standard in those years.
They used them in the Monza v8s in the late 70s too. The smallest small block chevy produced 4.3 liter 262 cubic inches.
Wrong, the small block V8 used in the Monza has NO connection to the L-99 used in the Caprice. Just because the displacement is the same does not mean it is the same engine.
I too own a '94 Caprice Classic, got it for $500. I'm the second owner. The car sat for a while. I've had no real problems other than general maintenance. I've put cold air intake and 3.5" exhaust, which helps that wimpy 4.3 push the boat, and also helped with the gas mileage.
