1996 Chevrolet Caprice Classic from North America - Comments

"A great all around car with great performance!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Just recently purchased this gleaming beauty from an older woman, but will have to flush the cooling system and replace the thermostat as it is not putting heat out. Car looks and drives like it just came off the showroom floor.

General comments?

This is my second fully loaded Caprice and by far my most favorite car that I have owned. The performance of this 2-ton automobile is unbelievable. I love putting the gas pedal down and feeling this car jump. Between both Caprices I have owned, maintenance has been minimum (i.e., oil changes, tire rotation...). It also gets great gas mileage, which I average around 26 on the highway. And a person can't beat the comfort that the Caprice offers as well. This Caprice will be kept as a collector car; preserve it as a piece of great automobile history.

Any good recommended websites to purchase spare parts?

Sad that GM discontinue the Caprice!

Having driven 25+ Yrs,& a few million miles, we here find the Chevrolet Caprice is so reliable, so evident making the more recent #3 car maker (ford) taxi's a joke about a sea of explosive taxi's in almost any city or big town at any traffic light or gathering of them. Proof being favoring Chevy Caprice reliability as taxi or Police or family car:

20 Police departments from one state alone, in early 2005, have N E W S on front page AOL Internet news, for wanting the Crown Vic's off the road for serious rear end explosive issues as so many across the country have died and the factory won't recall them. Among many other models having grave concerns also seen recently yet so down played. (Reminder;the word NEWS stands for North East West South, International zones)

This is very Opposite of GM practice. General motors recalls any small defect noticed at great expense to the factory. This is why the Government always has GM as the first choice relating to our serious safety and protection of our proud military people.GM:Also known as "Generous Motors"

In New York just north of the city here, some towns here rumored the Caprice is actually a hunted car to be junked as to not remind folks the serious effects the more popular crown vic possesses relating to explosive concerns. This is a very downplayed issue."out of sight out of mind"strategy, removing the reliable Chevy and the bad news of fords.

The sympathy for innocent families needing to be employed by them are over played too. Down played News relating;

This sounds confusing in the next paragraph, but it relates to supporting connections of how the danger survives on the street as fake advertising to be seen in relation to sales in the dealers. Read and think;

Like cheap home computers really cost only one percent of a hundred million in school taxes (More than many banks are worth) and hiding facts of everyone getting much better grades on a cheap home computer, a real relation of downplayed secret crime favored money. (1000 students x $1000home PC = only 1 million.) big secret relation with support of crime family car company connections.

(GM = 300 billion in assets plus, ford=almost 200 billion in debt mid 2003, in all business records"Wall Street"center of business news)

While the new #3 (ford) car factory does not recall its issues, and one of the biggest references of our economy and of our country suffers greatly due to the negative responsibility we are credited for on the streets in every city by anyone critical with a reality concern for our children and family safety.

The Chevrolet Caprice was a negotiated crime related trick that lied and fooled GM executives and made any crime family connection very happy to see a good guy favorite go away so the #3 crime connected company could steal all our confidence more. The Caprice has survived the test of time in many ways being a #1 easiest to restore vehicle at almost any car show you name.

Anyone who has served in the military can quickly notice, and even that has been very downplayed so our common respect for safety is side stepped so to speak. This gradually making everything less safety related OK, or "cool", and there is no more normal as the popular phrase goes and every respectable truth for traditional full size family car safety is desensitized and every traditional goal of a big safe car is so over critisized, exaggerated, favoring a much less effort approach to even learning to drive a much more correct needed size vehicle.

More folks died in cars than all the wars in history and recently there is a market making the joke; they are out for blood a reality.

Bring back the Caprice, because this gives all of us not only a crime related humor in our every day accepted way of urban or suburbia life, but in reality a terrible reference by anyone here or abroad who looks at the safety aspects of our streets in a truthful sense.

The Chevy Caprice was indeed a mislead negotiation putting the responsibility of public transit in the crime families hands to help the well known over charging hospitals and drug industries not to mention the food industries making us all 70% over weight the past few years.

"Red color vehicles;" being also ticketed about 20,000 more times than the next highest ticked color vehicle in the big city" as a real example for first on our accident avoidance list to study.

Caprice reliability seem a lonely word with favoring true safety as the real reason anyone wants a traditional family car. Any one who finds a Caprice is finding gold, literally. The Caprices my friends and I have experience with have always been on the roads 24 Hrs for years without hardly ever so much as an over heating issue that a water can could usually fix in short time, unlike other makes that have to drive in the hot day with the hood not fully secure seeing an obvious hazard before even entering the ride.

Chevy is known for being the work horse of America and it kills us repectable of safety to such a tragic misunderstanding by the public to see a misrepresented example of safety replaced by vehicles also used as a reason to blame the whole world's impression of cars made here. Be they city business visting or just every day occasional customers, more folks died in cars than all the wars in history and the evidence is pointing to over whelming reasons why. We love all, especially honest people, but the car is not a person as some take such "family" car offense.

Those of us who trained for safety and are told this is "the real world" we grew up to believe in. We can see why now, to hide money that caused the attacks here. Bring back the Caprice.

We even have a car company (another custom shop),soon to rebuild a few for those who want another Caprice or Cadillac, (like a Caprice with luxury) as we have been asked by surviviors and friends of the Sept 11, 2001 attacks. We are new at non military civilian web sites, but not new to older web sites.

We are at www.Gentransit.com and other web sites soon with the same name. We hope intelligent concerened folks read this think a lot of how money and home education relates to all and our economy and especially safety. At GM people sweat the details for your safest advantage and safe big cars in films is biggest the reason people use to flock to this country. The public indeed has a friend or two also here at; General Transit Research & Development, And IN God We trust, every hour every way.

Re the above comment:

Remember those guy you used to see standing on street corners handing out stapled, single-spaced mimeographs, and if you took one and attempted to read it, you could not make heads or tails out of what the guy was trying to say?

Well, now those guys have computers and the internet to get their confusing messages out...

So, are you trying to say that because the Caprice was discontinued, crime is up, people are stupider, the economy's down, and more people die per day?

Damn, you've got some issues.
