1999 Chevrolet Cavalier LS review from North America
"Cheap and reliable means of transportation!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced brakes at 54,000 miles (normal wear)
Replaced plugs and wires at 56,000 miles (normal wear)
Passenger side air conditioning vent broke around 76,000,
that was my fault. Car interior is made of cheap plastic parts.
Replaced front brake pads and rotors at 100,000 miles (normal wear)
General comments?
The car has been a very reliable commuter car, but is a cheaply made vehicle. Parts are cheap and fairly simple to replace if you're a "do-it-yourself" kinda person.
I use this car to travel to work since I travel around 56 miles per day round trip. The cavalier averages about 24-26 in the city and around 28-29 on the highway.
I purchased the car for $3800.00 (U.S) and was well worth the money if you don't care about aesthetics, creature comforts, parking lot door dings from discourteous drivers, or your children and pets making unusual works of art on your interior.
