2002 Chevrolet Cavalier review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My 2002 Cavalier headlamps just went out and the service indicator went on. After intensive testing, I was able to locate the problem. The wiring harness where it plugs in and then goes to the headlight assembly had rotted out. The rotting was caused by the battery. The residue that builds up on the terminals and drops onto the battery shelf below had eventually spread on to the wiring harness plug in, located directly under the battery
shelf. This corrosion on the harness could have been easily prevented by not locating it under the battery, or putting a shield to prevent this seepage from corroding the harness. This is not only a very poor design; it also can result in headlight failure, causing serious injury.
